Keene Irwin Daiss , 96, of Arvada, passed away December 18, 2017.
He was born September 23, 1921 in Grant, Nebraska, the son of Jacob and Millie (Altonensee) Daiss.
On January 18, 1942, he married Jean Jelniker.
Keene honorably served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945 as a Technical Sergeant.
After his discharge from the Army, Keene enjoyed working for 46 years with the Burlington Northern Railroad as a Machinist. He retired in 1982.
He was a long time Mason, Shriner, and member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Keene loved to volunteer with committees, whether it was in his church or at his credit union. He loved to travel with his wife Jean and his family in their RV. He loved gardening and was an avid Broncos and Rockies fan, especially Troy Tulowitzki. He served as an usher at the Broncos games for many years. He was a driver for the Red Cross. He was a people-person and never knew a stranger.
Keene is survived by Son, Douglas K. (Jerry Ann) Daiss; three daughters, Dr. Pamela (Douglas) Daiss-Sitzmann, Barbara (Mitchell) Powell and Debra Morris; three grandchildren, Bruce Paschall, Brent Paschall and Daniel (Amy) Daiss; two great-grandchildren, Ariella Daiss and Joey Daiss; nephew, Daryl and niece, Gloria.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean J. Daiss; Father, Jacob Daiss; Mother, Millie Daiss and Brother, Alton Brouse.
