Keith Emmitt Yates, 69, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on February 27, 2019, at the Denver Hospice following a stroke.
Keith was born in Lansing, Michigan in 1949 to Emmit & Priscilla Yates. They moved to Colorado before his first birthday and he considered himself a Colorado native. Keith graduated from Englewood High School in 1967 and then from Western State College in 1972. After living in Australia for awhile, he returned to Colorado and began his 28-year career as a State Farm Insurance Agent in Lakewood.
Keith married Christine Thorson on April 2, 1977 in Evergreen, Colorado and they had two children; Melinda and Andrew.
Keith enjoyed carpentry work and had excellent finish work skills, he also enjoyed photography and travel. He is survived by his wife, Christine June Yates, his children: Melinda (Mindy) Christine Clagett (Tom), and Andrew Keith Yates (Amanda). He was blessed with five grandchildren: Weston Ahlgren Yates, Henry Matthew Clagett, Abigail Christine Yates, Skyler James Morris Yates, and Elizabeth Joy Clagett. Keith is also survived by three siblings: Marjorie Peays (Mike), Stephen Yates (Valerie), and Pauli Campbell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmit & Priscilla Yates.
Funeral services for Keith will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 3:00 p.m., at Hillside Community Church: 103 North Ford Street, Golden, CO 80403; 303-273-9613. A reception will follow at the home of Christie Yates.
Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11th, at Evergreen Memorial Park: 26624 N. Turkey Creek Road, Evergreen, CO 80439.
