Kenneth Kimble

September 21, 1928 — December 12, 2017

Kenneth Everett "Kenny" Kimble – 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend went home to be with the Lord December 12, 2017.

Born on September 21, 1928 to Audria G. Stonebreaker and Everett Condit in Severy, Kansas…later adopted by loving father James V. Kimble I. Kenny grew up on a farm before moving to Wichita, Kansas as a teenager. Following his graduation from Wichita- East High School in 1946, Kenny moved to Denver, Colorado. After few years in Denver, Ken met the love of his life Dorothy Bradley. Ken and Dottie were married and started their new life together in southeast Denver before moving to Lakewood in 1969. They had three children James Kimble, Kim Martin (Al), and Brad Kimble (Jo) who they loved and nurtured with all of their hearts.

Kenny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He stood by his wife through the good times and the bad. He taught his children to be God-fearing, hardworking, and accountable. Quitting was never an option. Ken led by example and worked hard to support his wife and family. Kenny gave back to his community as a Free Mason and member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He served others by always helping where there was a need and making sure everyone was taken care of before himself. If you were in need, Kenny was there.

Kenny loved boating, fishing and camping in the summertime. Some of the best family memories were created in campgrounds and riding in his boat. He taught many a kid to water ski and patiently brought the boat back around with each attempt. He enjoyed most sports and spent many hours in the backyard enduring bad pitches. In the off season, his favorite pastime was bowling. He bowled in numerous leagues and took pride in his perfect game. He also enjoyed listening to music and dancing, both ballroom and square dancing.

As a young man, Kenny worked in his grandfather's grocery store and at a packing plant in Wichita. Upon coming to Colorado in 1946 he worked in gas stations changing oil until landing a job at the Tenneco Oil Refinery. In 1970, he started work in the Circulation Department at The Denver Post servicing businesses with several editions of the newspaper. Ken retired in 1991. In the 60's, Ken worked side jobs to make ends meet including repair work for Ironrite, cleaning the church for extra money, and ushering at DU Pioneer hockey games.

Kenny was a devoted member of Phillips Methodist Church and enjoyed serving as an usher for several years. Kenny also served on the Building and Grounds Committee. He was a member of Albert Pike Masonic Lodge and the Lakewood Elks. In his teen years he went through the ranks of the Boy Scouts serving as a Junior Boy Scout Master. When his boys were old enough to join Boy Scouts he was always ready to help, even serving as Scout Master.

Kenny's grandchildren Amy, Amber, Kara(Josh), Chad, Haley, Catey, Hannah and great-grandchildren Callum, Kayden, Kailani, Brendon, Kolton and Keenan were his greatest joy! One of his nicknames was GGpa. Kenny loved taking his grandchildren fishing and camping and loved to play cards with them. He took pride in watching them grow, learn, and succeed.

Kenny was preceded in death by his loving wife Dottie and his parents. He is survived by his children, grand- children, great-grandchildren, cousins and in-laws.
