Kenneth Joseph Pelot

Kenneth “Ken” Joseph Pelot of Aurora, Colorado passed away on August 23,2024 at the age of 82. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 3, 1941. Ken received his education in Detroit and in the 1960’s left Detroit for an employment opportunity with General Electric Light Military Electronics in Utica, New York. In Utica, Ken rented an apartment in a two-family home owned by Joanie’s parents. It was there that Ken met Joanie, the love of his life. They married on July 20,1963, and as Ken was always fond of saying, he “married the landlord’s daughter”. A wonderful marriage that lasted over 61 years.

In the fall of 1965, they left Utica with their first-born daughter to return to Detroit where

Ken worked for Bendix Aerospace Division and later the Ford Motor Company. While in Detroit, the family continued to grow where another daughter and two sons were born. In October of 1975, the opportunity came to move to Denver, Colorado with Ford. He worked in the High-Altitude Emissions Lab at the Ford Motor Company and continued in the lab until his retirement in 2001. In Colorado, Ken’s family kept expanding with the addition of seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren that Ken adored.

Ken was an artist who enjoyed painting still life and landscapes. He painted Christmas

figures that Joanie would give as gifts to her lucky friends and family. Owners of Ken’s artwork cherished it. He also used his talent to paint and create buildings, bridges and natural surroundings for his magnificent model train panorama. Something his grandchildren especially admired. Ken was also an avid sports fan. He always cheered for the Colorado teams and continued to follow the Detroit Red Wings hockey.

Ken will forever be loved and missed by his wife Joanie (Sullivan) Pelot, his children Patti

(Roger) Sorge, Debbie Pelot, Jimmy Pelot, and Kenny (Meghan) Pelot, grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother Glenn (Christi) Pelot, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, many cousins, and friends.
