Kevin Lyle Hollar died suddenly on Saturday, June 4th at his home in Golden, Colorado.
The son of Edwin Lee and Carma Grace Hollar, Kevin was born on March 13, 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He graduated from Sandia High and attended community college in Albuquerque before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah where and entered a career in retail management. After a few years in Salt Lake, Kevin was invited by his company to transfer to Portland, Oregon, a city he learned to love. Recognized for his natural charm and interest in outdoor gear, Kevin was recruited to represent leading outdoor equipment and clothing manufacturers in an industry with which he became closely associated. He is treasured by many lifelong friends in Portland and indeed throughout the country, as he traveled frequently for work and recreation.
When he was offered an opportunity to be closer to family, Kevin accepted a position in the Denver area and moved to Golden, Colorado. There he was able to spend time with his sister Renee' Cavin and her family in Colorado Springs, and with his brother Eric Hollar and family in Pueblo. Kevin's frequent participation in those family gatherings is treasured.
Kevin was a great lover of music, and he played guitar, piano, and the trumpet. Free time would often find him hiking or enjoying the company of a good dog, and on the best of recent days he would borrow the neighbor's dog to accompany him on a hike. Kevin appreciated good food and good company in restaurants, concerts, and the spectacular natural places throughout the west he was fortunate enough visit.
Please join us in celebrating Kevin's life by thinking of him when you are out on your next outdoor adventure. He probably had a copy of the map to wherever that takes place. And when you are enjoying a meal, remember Kevin's refrain: Did you put green chile on it?
In lieu of flowers, consider supporting environmental conservation, or another cause in Kevin's honor.
