Kimberly Mayes

April 25, 1972 — September 27, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kimberly Mayes from this world.

Mother, teacher, rapier tongue, hippie, nature lover, and cheerleader; she carved a passage through life that touched many. Independent, opinionated, strong-willed, and yet paradoxically caring, she was an enigma.

From raising pompoms at high school football games to sailing in the Caribbean, building trails in the mountains of Colorado to researching venomous snakes, traipsing around Italy or the UK, to studying monkeys in the jungle of Costa Rica, she led a storied life.

Kimberly will join her beloved mother Regina Lyons and leave behind a wonderful son, Cai Rickards; her father, Timothy Lyons; her sister, Michelle Lyons Snow; her caregiver, William Rickards; her many friends; and extended family. Kimberly will be greatly missed.

May we all find the same calm, courage, grace, and kindness with which she finished her journey.
