Kiyoko Dee

November 14, 1935 — January 25, 2022

Kiyoko "Kay" Dee, 86 of Centennial, CO died 25 Jan 2022. She died of an incurable infection. To say what a great mom and wife she was, would exhaust the ink supply of the world.

She was born Kiyoko Asayama in Osaka, Japan on 14 Nov 1935. She survived the fire-bombing of Japan during World War Two. She did not talk much about the war. Little did she know that in 19 years she would break a three thousand year tradition by marrying a non-Japanese, our dad, Red Dee. They dated for three years and after much red tape, were married on 20 May 1955. It had to be scary leaving her family and country and coming to a new one whiteout the usual support system of the bride's family. There weren't cell phones then or even a cheap way to dial long distance. There were letters and tape recordings. But their love conquered everything. Together they traveled the world in the USAF. They had a very successful career in the USAF together. Our dad did the business side of the Air Force and our mom handled the home front.

Our Mom did not get the awards, medals and promotions such as our dad did in the Air Force; however, she did get our love and adoration for everything she did such as meals she cooked sporting events that she attended, spotless house, rushing off to the emergency room with us for every ailment she couldn't cure herself, defending us without any consideration for her own self, and standing by us NO MATTER WHAT! With all this going on she was a great bowler. Had she the strength (five feet tall and roughly a hundred pounds does not generate a lot of strength in bowling) who knows how great she would have been. She was also a mean hanafuda (Japanese card game) player!

Kay is survived by a sister and brother still living in Japan. Her two sons, Clark and Travis live in Colorado.

Any woman can be a mother , it takes a very special woman to be a mommy. She will be severely missed.

Red and Kay will be interred together at Fort Logan Cemetery.
