The man, the myth, the legend, Larry C. Smith Sr , passed away on April 10th, 2019 at the age of 60. After a short, but fierce battle with Stage 4 lung cancer. He passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own bed, at his home in Buckeye, AZ. He was surrounded by loved ones at his bedside.
Larry is survived by his girlfriend, Gina Johnson, and her daughters Jen and Bailey. His Daughter Jessica and Son in law Rob. His beloved grandchildren Ava, Frankie and Chloe. His brother Rick; sister in law, Sharon; Nieces, a nephew and many, many friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Honora; his Father, Orville and His Son, Craig.
Larry was born on November 11th, 1958 in Clearwater, FL to Honora and Orville Smith.
His family and friends remember him as strong, successful and passionate. This shined through in his prized business, Partners in Trucking. He formed Partners in 1999 with nothing more than a truck and a dream. Throughout those 20 years, he built many meaningful and lasting relationships. Larry had a love for animals, especially horses and dogs. His beloved dog Charlie actually passed away the same exact day. A true friend, until the very end. He had a passion for trucking, horseback riding, scuba diving, motorcycle rides and visiting the beach. He also had a major love for food, in particular, oreos and his famous milkshakes which will be missed by those left behind. He also loved to relax with his favorite drink, Jack honey with Diet coke, or ice water. No in between. The one thing that trumped it all, was his love for his grandbabies. His love for them knew no bounds.
A celebration of a life well lived, will be held on Sunday May 5th, 2019 at 1pm At the Newcomer-East Metro Chapel, 190 Potomac Street , Aurora, CO 80011. A reception is to follow from 2-4 pm. Please join us to share memories and aide in healing the broken hearts of all who loved him dearly.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you use the money and take someone you love out to a nice dinner. This would honor two of Larrys favorite things in life, family and food. Make memories, those last much longer than flowers. Just be sure to make a toast to Larry and the wonderful man he was.
