LaRue Phyllis Peacock, 99, passed away in a hospice residence in Centennial, CO on April 12,
2022, after breaking her hip resulting from a fall.
LaRue was born on September 6, 1922, in Dayton, OH, the 11th of 15 children born to Margaret (Maggie) and John Martin.
Determined to reach her 100th birthday, she had become the lioness of the family, outliving all her siblings.
LaRue was joined in Holy Matrimony to Philip Charles Peacock in Lexington, KY on July 4, 1940,
a union to which three children were born: Philip Keith, deceased; Kimberly Ann (Anderson),
Castle Rock, CO; and Terrence Lynn, Franktown, CO.
Her husband, Philip, served in the US Air Force for 23 years of their life together, during which
time she willingly and lovingly served our nation as an Air Force wife, raising their children and
managing the household as he served in uniform.
Having not had the opportunity to pursue a postsecondary education during the family's Air
Force days, LaRue went back to Community College of Denver/North following her husband's
retirement and received her associate degree in General Education in 1980 at the age of 58.
This fulfilled one of her lifetime goals.
Following her husband's death in 1992, LaRue remained in her own home, first in Broomfield,
CO and then in Westminster, CO, where she was active in the Westminster Newcomer's Club
until she moved to Bonaventure Senior Living, an assisted living community in Castle Rock, CO
in 2016.
LaRue was a gregarious sort who never met a stranger and who amassed countless friends. She
is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband of 52 years, and by her eldest
son, Philip (Keith). She is survived by her son Terrence (Terry) and wife Marsha, her daughter
Kimberly (Kim) and husband C Douglas (Doug), six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren,
and countless nephews, nieces, and friends.
A Visitation will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 901 S Sheridan Blvd, Lakewood, CO
from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Mon, May 2, 2022. Her Funeral service, Celebration of Life, and
100th Year Birthday Party will be at the same location from 12:00n to 1:00pm on Tuesday, May
3, 2022, followed by interment with her husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver,
CO at 2:00pm.
