Lawrence Earl Pracht

Lawrence (Larry) Earl Pracht Jr. preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Marie Pracht, his father Lawrence Earl Pracht, Sr. and his mother Coral Geneva Hunter, his sisters Marilyn and Carolyn, and one Grandchild Eric Randolph Pracht. He is survived by his six children Sandy Overhultz (Bryan), Kathy Engstrom (Russell), Randy Pracht (Denice), Michelle Disney (Marvin), Bonnie Baines (Karl), Robert Pracht (Kelly) and his ten grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

Larry was born December 26, 1937, in Concordia, Kansas. He graduated in 1955 from Concordia High School. He enlisted in the Kansas National Guard in February 1955, Larry moved to Colorado in 1957 at which time he was transferred to the Colorado National Guard where he was honorably discharged January 1963, as an SP4 with the 891st Engineer Battalion. 

He was married to Theresa Marie Collette on September 1, 1958, at St. Peters Church in Aurora, Kansas at which time she relocated to Colorado. He went to work at Gates Rubber Company until September 1962 when he went to work for Coors Brewery, where in January 1974 he entered the Apprenticeship Maintenance Mechanic program earning a bachelor’s degree as Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic October 1977. He continued working in Process Maintenance and Utility Maintenance until his retirement in 1998.

Larry was a firefighter starting with Pleasant View Fire Department, he then moved to the Golden Fire Department from March 1971 to March 1991 where he served as a Captain. He was on the Rescue Squad in Golden, where he also received his certification as an EMT May 1977 and was also certified in Swift Water Rescue as well as Helicopter repelling.

Larry was a member of the Elks and the Knights of Columbus. Larry and Theresa loved to travel. He loved his family, and camping, fishing, boating, dancing, going for a drive, stopping at any garage sale, and playing or calling bingo. Throughout his life he loved helping people.
