Lawrence R. Schlager
1931-2021
Lawrence R. Schlager passed away on January 14, 2021 in Aurora, Colorado. Lawrence was born in Mitchell, Nebraska on February 11, 1931 to Jacob and Elizabeth (Deines) Schlager. He attended schools in Hawk Springs, Wyoming and Torrington, Wyoming, graduating from Torrington High School in 1949. He later attended Rapid City School of Business for one year in Rapid City, South Dakota. He joined the Wyoming Air National Guard on March 7, 1951 and was recalled into the United States Air force on April 1, 1951 due to the Korean war. When released from active duty, went to work for the air National Guard as an Air Technition. Later transferred to the Colorado Air National Guard and again recalled to the United Stated Air force due to the Vietnam war in 1968.
When released from active duty, Lawrence went back to work for the Colorado Air National Guard as an Air Technician. He served over twenty-nine years in the military and then retired from the U.S Air Force as Chief Master Sergeant E-9. After this service he went to work for the Air Reserve Personnel Center and retired after five years in 1988.
Lawrence is survived by: Wife Jeanette, Daughter Cathy Samuelson, Grandchildren; Nicole Samuelson, Heather Samuelson, Shawn Schlager, Brian Kindsvater, Great Grandchildren; Natalie Kindsvater and Jacob Kindsvater, Brother William and Sister Wilma Ward. Lawrence is pre-deceased by his son Kenneth; his parents; 9 brothers and 5 sisters.
