Lee "L.V." Vaughn Rhodus, age 72, passed away of a heart attack on April 3, 2023, at his home in Denver, CO. L.V was born May 18, 1950, in Leadville, CO, to the late Lee and Viola (Goldsmith) Rhodus. He was a 1968 graduate of Lake County High School. He went on to attend Mesa Junior College in Grand Junction, then transferred to CU, then CSU where he attained his Bachelor of Arts degree in History.
L.V. had several different jobs through the years, one being at the Climax Molybdenum Mine and one working for his beloved Uncle Freddy in his liquor store. His working career landed him in downtown Denver working for Qwest for the next 25 years. He worked in the Communications department as a listing analyst where he spent most of his days troubleshooting problems for customers, which he really enjoyed. Many of them loved his humor and patience with them as he tried to solve their many different problems. He earned several awards which he was so proud of.
L.V. was happy to retire and just sit back and relax and enjoy the rest of his life without setting his alarm clock. He became active in his church, Greenwood Community Church and enjoyed spending time with his church friends, playing pool and enjoying lunches together.
L.V. loved the Lord, listening to his music, and gambling every once in a while. He had a special talent of being able to impersonate various personalities like Popeye, John Wayne, President Kennedy, and the Three Stooges, which always brought so much laughter to our family.
L.V is preceded in death by this father, A. Lee Rhodus (who called him "Blondie"); his mother Viola Rhodus whom he loved and adored dearly. She was his North Star, and he must be so happy to be with her now. He is also preceded in death by his great nephew Coen Chaney, for whom he wrote a very touching and memorable eulogy.
L.V. is survived by his brother, Ed (Diane) Rhodus; sister, Venita (Larry) Chaney; nephews Derek (Cindy) Chaney; Coby (Jennifer) Chaney; Shawn Rhodus; Travis (Camila) Rhodus; Chad (Sandra)Rhodus; and nieces Dawn (Paul) Johnston and Kacey Pace. Also many dear cousins and great nieces/nephews.
L.V. had a heart of gold. He modeled a lifetime of genuine kindness along with his wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed dearly. God bless you, L.V. Hoo-wah!
