Leonard G. Shaffer (82) was born January 21, 1924 in Denver, Co and Passed away of Lung Cancer on April 19, 2006 in Lakewood, CO. Preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Shirley L. Shaffer. Survived by daughters Bonnie (Gary) Peistrup, Debi (Lee) Carrick, Rachel (Jamie) Ritchie; sons George (Carol) Shaffer, Lenny (Lisa) Shaffer; grandchildren Sean (Monique) Peistrup, Ty (Stephanie) Carrick, Trapper Carrick, Jennifer Shaffer, Crystal Ritchie, Andrew Shaffer, Alysha Shaffer, Kayla Shaffer, Cody Shaffer, Joseph Shaffer; great-grandchildren Shannon Peistrup, Nathan Peistrup and Zane Carrick; also survived by his Aunt Leah Lotz, his sister Laverna Markey and his girlfriend Carmen Marrs who was a wonderful companion to him and his second love. He served in the United States Navy proudly and was the 25th wave on Utah Beach on D-Day in WWII. He was the owner of Mile-Hi Vacuum for 50 years. Donations can be made to Hospice of St. Johns or the American Cancer Society. Services to be held on Monday 1:00 at West Bowles Community Church, 12325 W. Bowles Ave, Littleton. Burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. He will be remembered as a loving and good husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and also one who loved and served his country.
