It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of Leslie Porter Clovis Webster on February 11, 2020. Leslie is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen Babcock Webster, and their daughters, Madeleine Crawford Webster and Carolyn Babcock Webster, who were the light and loves of her life.
Born April 30, 1966 in Parkersburg, WV, where she graduated from high school, Leslie earned an undergraduate degree from Denison University and a Master's degree from Northeastern University in Boston. She met her neighbor and fellow Denison alum, Stephen, when she lived in Wellesley, MA and the rest, as they say, is history.
Leslie found her true calling when she became a mother to Maddie and Carolyn, with whom she had an unbreakable bond. That love carried over to her classroom at Colorado Academy and the lives she touched over her many years as a teacher and friend.
She loved to travel and was always up for an adventure. Wherever she lived, Leslie built a strong community of friends, whether it was at Denison, Washington, DC, New Canaan, CT, of Denver. She made sure the friendships were strong and lasting, but she never forgot her roots. Leslie loved the WVU Mountaineers and all things "West Virginia", a passion she shared with her father.
She was preceded in death by her father and hero, David C. Clovis, on December 23, 2019; her mother, Judith Bunn Clovis; grandparents, Hayward E. and Doris C. Clovis and Leo and Georgia Bunn; and mother-in-law, Karlene Vincett Webster.
Leslie is also survived by her sister, Martha Clovis Manzo (Al) of Goleta CA; stepmother, Katherine L. Clovis of Clarksburg, WV; father-in-law, James G. Webster, III of Delray Beach, FL; step-siblings, Katy McGrann (Dave) of Richmond, VA, Betsy Sinsel (Terry McKenna) of Afton, VA, Parry Harvey (Jeff) of Kingston, TN, Sarah Locher (Rich) of Pittsburgh, PA, Chark Sinsel (Laura) of Clarksburg, WV; and in-laws Jim Webster (Valerie) of Bozeman, MT, Reed Webster (Kass) of Chicago, IL, Kate Webster Kocks (Pete) of San Francisco, CA and numbers nieces and nephews, who all loved her dearly.
Leslie is remembered for her love and devotion to her students, friends and family. Her infectious laugh and radiant smile, positive outlook and gentle spirit will live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
We honor Leslie's memory with a request that we treat each other with respect, kindness and love. Contributions in Leslie's memory can be made to Leslie Clovis Webster Faculty/Staff Enrichment Fund at Colorado Academy, 3800 S. Pierce St., Denver CO 80235.
Memorial services will be held 10 am, Sunday, February 23rd at Colorado Academy Field House, 2300 S. Pierce St., Denver.
