Lester Wendell Crum
1927 - 2021
Lester W. Crum, 93, died Thursday, May 27, 2021. He was born in Missouri to the late Chester B. and Iva D. Crum on June 6, 1927. He spent his youth along the Mississippi River on both the Missouri side and Illinois side. He moved to the Denver area with his mom in his late teens and soon after enlisted in the Merchant Marines. He was a junior engineer and sailed the South Pacific during World War II. He remembers spending time in the Philippine Islands. Upon his return, his sister Jane introduced him to his beloved wife-to-be, Evelyn. The two married on August 30, 1947 and lived a full and adventurous life together for 71 years. Les spent his career in the auto body and fender repair business retiring as a manager for a shop with a local Ford dealership. He and Evelyn had many close friends and often traveled the world with them as well as traveling and camping throughout the United States.
Lester is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn. He is survived by his son Lester L. (Karen); three grandchildren: Alicia (Scott) of Chicago, Ryan (Kelly) of Denver, and Erin (Christopher) of Portland, Oregon and six great-grandchildren.
