Linda Belle Riegel

March 26, 1942 — February 13, 2022

Linda Belle Riegel, 79, of Denver, passed away on February 13, 2022.

She was born March 26, 1942, in Denver, CO, the daughter of Willis A. and Nancy M. (Hill) Freeburg.

She played the violin and graduated from South High School in 1960. She attended CSU in Fort Collins, CO, and received a Secretarial Certificate in 1962.

On October 2, 1966, she married Wayne Riegel at Grant Avenue United Methodist in Denver. They were married for 50 years before his passing.

Linda worked in the Human Resources department at the Denver Mint in the 1960s and early '70s and was a bookkeeper with Olive Keefer Bookkeeping service from 1983 – 2008.

Linda enjoyed games and was particularly fond of slot machines and Bingo, both of which she picked up from her mother Madge. Over the years she had various hobbies (ceramics, needlepoint, etc.), and stayed involved with her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed music by John Denver, Neil Diamond, and Bill and Gloria Gaither, along with musical theater. She was fond of dogs, enjoyed road trips, and loved spending time with friends and family. Her favorite place to go was the Maroon Bells in Aspen. She loved going out to lunch with her friends and trying new places to eat. Her favorite pastime was shopping for Christmas presents - famously asking for lists from family members in August. Above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, cousin, and friend. She was forever devoted to the care of her son, Bill.

Linda is survived by three sons, William Riegel, Gregory (Candy) Riegel, and Jonathan (Jennifer) Riegel; five grandchildren, Ryan Riegel, Luke Riegel, Thomas Riegel, Alice Riegel, and Leah Riegel; brother-in-law Robert (Maris) Riegel, and many cousins and extended family.

She is preceded in death by Father, Willis A. Freeburg; Mother Nancy M. Freeburg; husband Wayne Riegel; and two brothers in law, Norman and Clyde Riegel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda's memory to RoundUp Fellowship, online at RoundUp, or mail your gift to 3443 South Galena St., Suite 310, Denver, CO 80231.
