It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Lou Sterk, 74, of Arvada, Colorado. She passed away on March 15, 2023, just 9 days after losing her soulmate.
Linda was born on December 6, 1948, to George Thomas Kersnick and Mary Juanita Kersnick (Kimzey) in Hemingford, Nebraska. After graduating from Lakewood High School in 1967, she attended Western State College. After braving her first winter in Gunnison, she decided to move back to Denver to look at other options. Shortly after returning she met her soul mate James Sterk at a local hangout. They married several years later on June 20, 1970. Jim and Linda went on to be the proud parents of two children, Tara Crase (Sterk) of Arvada, CO and Matt Sterk of Littleton, CO.
After returning to Denver from Gunnison, Linda went on to pursue a 40-year career as an accountant. Some of her best memories include working for Jim Dandy Fried Chicken, Sundyne, and her last employer RFS Inc. Outside of work, Linda had a passion for her family and horses. She enjoyed some of her best years with her family around their 4-acre horse property for nearly 30 years. Linda will be remembered as a kind and generous woman who was always there for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of over 52 years, James Sterk. Lovingly remembered by her daughter Tara Crase; son Matt Sterk; grandchildren Deacon Sterk, Van Sterk, and Elijah Sterk; brother Rick Kersnick; sisters Joyce Street and Cindy Iglehart.
She will be in our hearts forever and will never be forgotten.
The family will celebrate the lives and union of Jim and Linda Sterk at the 'family' home on Saturday May 20th, 2023. All that loved them are asked to join the family in sharing memories together beginning at 3 pm. We would love to share the property that has brought so much joy to the Sterks with all of you!
