Linda Walczak had a pioneering career in medicine spanning five decades. Beginning as a candy striper around age 14, she persistently worked her way up through the ranks of the profession, earning a myriad of achievements and accolades along the way. She held a wide variety of positions within the medical field, including Registered Nurse, sonographer, wound care specialist, geriatric specialist, preceptor, and clinic supervisor, just to name a few. Her career spanned from coast to coast, from Yale Medical in the east to Loma Linda in the west, though the majority of her time was spent at hospitals and clinics throughout the Colorado Front Range.
Linda was recognized with multiple awards for her service, including the Summit Award for excellence in the medical profession. Her groundbreaking discoveries in the fields of Psychiatry and Geriatrics have been published in prestigious medical journals. But most of all, she saved numerous lives during her career and eased the pain and suffering of so many.
Linda was an award winning artist and essayist during her formative years. In school, she was an accomplished athlete in golf and bowling. Her family especially enjoyed recounting the instances when she was mistaken as a member of the UCONN Women's basketball team.
During her later years, Linda devoted her time to several avocations of note, earning yet more acclaim as a cookbook author, a plus-size print model, an Asian drama critic, a jewelry designer and gemologist, and a fashion buyer for an exclusive clientele. In her final years, she was concerned with giving back to caregivers and other medical staff, as only someone with firsthand experience could appreciate.
Linda Walczak is survived by countless friends and family who all love her dearly, most especially her husband of 54 years and their son. She was be missed. She will be remembered.
