Lloyd George Frey, 87, passed peacefully from this mortal existence Sat. morning April 10, 2010 surrounded by his four children. Lloyd resided in Denver, Colorado for many years but had been staying in Utah Valley with his children and grandchildren for the past year after the death of his wife and eternal companion Virginia R. Frey. Lloyd was born the May 19, 1922 to George Peter Frey and Sadie McBride Frey in Grand Junction, Colorado. He graduated from Fruitvale High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1941 and served his country in World War II being stationed in England, France and Germany as a Military Police. After returning home from the war in 1945 he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he attended the LDS business college before serving a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Calgary, Canada.
He married Virginia Crumley Rencher June 28, 1949 in the Mesa, Arizona LDS temple. They are the parents of four children, Sandra Hadley, Provo, Utah, Lloya Hall (Randall), Orem, Utah, Marjorie Gardner (Ted) Littleton, Colorado and George Lloyd Frey (Cheryl), Provo, Utah and one foster son, one foster son, John Nowlin (LeeAnn) of Kingfisher, Oklahoma.
Lloyd attended Utah State where he majored in building and construction. He also attended the Phoenix Technical School. He worked in construction for many years in many different capacities. He also worked for 23 years as a Physical Facilities Supervisor for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Lloyd with his wife Virginia served many missions of varying types for his church. In 1964 he was called on a building mission to supervise the construction of a church building in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1999 he and Virginia also served for several years as microfilming missions to prepare and preserve document for family history work. They also served several times as local genealogy and family history missionaries. Lloyd and Virginia did countless hours of genealogy work and served many years in the LDS Denver Temple.
Lloyd was a dedicated member of his church and a faithful follower of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He lived an honest and upright life and was a shining example to all of his children and grandchildren. He was a faithful family man. His children and grandchildren were his crowning jewels. He was proud of every one of them.
Surviving are his four children, foster son, 23 grandchildren, two foster grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, brother Charles William Frey (Oregon) and sister Charlotte A. Thiede (Texas). He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Carolyn Rasmussen and Mae Heiner.
The family would like to thank the caring employees of First Choice Home Care, Home Health Watch, Greenwood Assisted Living and the Salt Lake Veterans Administration for making Lloyd's last year in this life more productive and comfortable.
Funeral Services will be held Friday April 16, 2010 at the LDS chapel, 2710 S. Monaco Pkwy, Denver. Friends may call from 11:00 to 12:00 Friday morning before the funeral. Interment will be at the Ft. Logan Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
