Lloyd Alvin Stoumbaugh, 77, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. He was born August 19, 1940 to Ernest Leroy and Eba Lavina Stoumbaugh in Denver, Colorado.
On February 7, 1959 he married his childhood sweetheart he referred to as his Star, Phyllis (Willie) Wilma Archer in Denver, Colorado. They met when Lloyd was 14 and Willie was 13. They were together 52 years and married 48 of those years before Willie was called home to her eternal life. They have a very strong and devoted love for one another. Lloyd enjoyed working on cars in his garage, drag racing, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a hardworking man from a young age and learned many traits from carpentry to retiring from the garage door business. Lloyd had the ability to create anything working with his mind and hands. He was a proud man that never took short cuts on any project. His passion was building race cars from the frame up. He never compromised great work and detail that went into his projects, whether that was building a race car, working on cars or carpentry. Lloyd took pride in his children, always trying to provide knowledge and instilling values, ethics and hard work while raising them. Lloyd and Willie were foster parents of 236 failure to thrive babies and children for 34 years. They were awarded the number 1 foster home in Denver, CO for 25 of those years.
He was survived by his 6 Daughters - Glenda (Gerald) Spomer, Laura (Richard) Pelser, Wendy (Ronald) Dunst, Suzanne Stoumbaugh, Ami Stoumbaugh and Marty Stoumbaugh; 11 Grandchildren - Holly Stoumbaugh, Kristen Spomer, Marissa (Dererk) Stoumbaugh, Evan Stoumbaugh, Christina (Anthony) Leon, Cassie Lilly, Matthew Stoumbaugh, Lance (Angel) Lilly, Aaron Dunst, Jaden King and Gavin Newson; 7 Great-grandchildren-Tien Cook, Jacoby Cook, Rosline Gallegos, Jordan Leon, Jeffrey Maybee, Alexis Einspahr, and Anthony Leon; 4 Siblings – Gailen (Marsha) Stoumbaugh, Karean (Dan) Smith, Arnold (Gayle) Stoumbaugh and Cynthia (Gil) Conn and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Eba Stoumbaugh, his beloved wife, Willie and his son Gailen (Bud) Stoumbaugh
A time of gathering will be held on Saturday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. at South Holly Baptist Church, located at 7101 S. Holly Street, Centennial, Colorado 80122.
