Lucy Rose Garcia , 92,
Born July 22, 1925 in Trinidad, Colorado, passed away peacefully, at home, December 28, 2017 in Lakewood, Colorado.
Survived by her loving and caring husband of 72 years, Ignacio Garcia. Loving and devoted mother of Marcella (Ray) Gonzalez and Lucille (Richard Yribia) Garcia; grandmother of Justine, Ray, Tracie, Laura, Louie and Jeff; great-grandmother of 17; great-great-grandmother of 18
Following her 28-year career at American Stencil, Lucy was able to devote her full attention to her Catholic faith. Inspired by the birth of the charismatic renewal within the Catholic Church, Lucy gained approval from the local parish, St. Cajetan, to form a prayer group. Under her leadership, the healing prayer group La Esperanza ( The New Hope) was born. Lucy would spend the following 35 years serving as the group's spiritual leader. Her gift for spiritual healing touched countless lives, both near and far. Her travels with La Esperanza included not only places such as California and New Mexico, but also reached out to remote regions of North and South Dakota to visit humble tribal communities within the Indian Territories. Her travels spanned from Hawaii to Jerusalem, Rome and Medjugorje; from Canada to Mexico City. Always, Ignacio at her side, and always, she prayed. Lucy will be missed dearly by family and friends but her selfless contributions and far reaching influence will long stand as a positive source of inspiration and encouragement. Performing the Lord's work was her labor of love.
"My greatest joy is when people turn to God."
