Lueta Mae Hudson
(affectionately known as "Lu") was born on September 17, 1937 to the union of Louie A. and Ruth Fields. She had one sibling, her sister, Mary. Lu grew up in Kanas City, Missouri and graduated from Lincoln High School, in 1957. She also spent time in Richmond, Virginia.
Lu met and fell in love with Frederick "Clarence" Hudson and they were married on December 9, 1983 in Colorado. She gained two stepchildren from this union (Dale and Charlotte). She enjoyed traveling, loved to cook for others, loved to eat, and loved to "go."
She was wise, compassionate, no-nonsense, and known for warning to "…give you a whippin." She was friendly, funny and fun-loving and could tell a good joke very well!
Ms. Lu received occupational training at Mercy Hospital and became a Surgical Instrument Technician working at Mercy Hospital for more than 30 years, until it closed in 1995.
Lu was a faithful believer in Christ Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in September of 1963, where she sang in the choir and supported various ministries – especially the children's and youth ministries. In 2012, she joined Ebenezer Baptist Church where she continued singing for the Lord and supporting the ministries of the Church. She was an inspiration to others.
Even in her most challenging years, months, and days, Lu remained determine to do things her way. She never gave up on God. She stayed in God's Word, believing His promises, and sharing about Jesus with all whom she encountered. She was a mighty prayer warrior – always praying "in the moment."
Lu was the sole survivor of her family for many years and enjoyed being "grafted in" by many families and friends who loved and cared for her (Clarence preceded her in death on December 24, 2002). She leaves to cherish her memory, her cousin, Alva Taylor (Kansas City, Missouri), a host of life-long friends, numerous God children that she claimed along the way and a multitude of those who loved her.
"No farewell words were spoken, we had no time to say goodbye,
you were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why"
