Luther Henry Pleasant, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, at the remarkable age of 92 in Denver, Colorado. Born on June 7, 1932, in Georgetown, Mississippi, he was the beloved son of Thomas Jefferson and Irene Pleasant (Stewart), both of whom preceded him in death, as well as his two bothers William Pleasant and Ellie Hue Pleasant.
Luther was deeply committed to his faith as a dedicated member and Deacon of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He served his country honorably for 24 years, retiring as a Tech Sergeant from the Strategical Air Command of the United States Air Force. His life exemplified integrity, service, and a steadfast dedication to his family and community.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 67 years, Ursel Pleasant, and their three children, Robert Pleasant, David & Trinny Pleasant, and Veronika & Ronald Miller. Luther’s legacy will continue through his six grandchildren—Chanae Bowden, Whitnee Pleasant, Devin Pleasant, Keena Pleasant, William Miller, and Elias Miller—along with five great-grandchildren, Donovan Armijo, Caleb Rogers, Kalaya Piper, Tiana Piper and Cason Piper who brought immense joy to his life. Additionally, he leaves behind a host of extended family and countless friends in Mississippi and beyond, all of whom will treasure his memory.
A funeral ceremony celebrating Luther’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 11:00 am, with a visitation from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Metro Chapel, located at 190 N. Potomac Street, Aurora, Colorado 80011. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver at 1:30 pm. The Pallbearers will be David Pleasant, Robert Pleasant, Elias Miller, Donovan Armijo, Caleb Rogers & Cason Piper
