Marcey James, 56, passed away Monday February 1, 2010.
Marcey James was born May 2, 1953 to Robert and Gloria Peterson. They brought her home to her brother Gregg at their house on Adams St. in Denver. Her parents delivered her a little sister Lori in 1956. When Marcey was four her parents bought their house on Hoyt St. At this house she welcomed another sister Suzie. Together she and her sisters learned to sew, bake, cook, and pretty much do anything crafty. Marcey enjoyed time spent together with her siblings feeding Lori roly-poly bugs, getting lost with Gregg at Disney land, ice skating on the homemade rink in their back yard, and countless other fun times together.
Marcey and Phil were married on May 19, 1972. On January 23, 1974 they welcomed their first son Devon. Three years later on March 5, 1977 they welcomed their first daughter Rachel. Then on January 28, 1980 they welcomed son Kyle. On April 20, 1981 they finished their collection bringing home daughter Ashley. Marcey was absolutely remarkable, raising four children and keeping track of her husband through countless small towns across four states. It was in having and raising her children she found her true calling. Although she held MANY jobs in her life her first, last, and main job was being a mother. She found great joy in teaching her children everything from sewing to doing their laundry.
She enjoyed seeing her children grow-up and each take their own path. She gladly accepted two son-in-laws Luke Price and Scott Graves. In December 1997 Marcey met her first grandson Damon. Her heart continued to grow as each grandchild was born. Meghan in 2000, then Brayden in 2003, followed by Dylan in 2006, and finally Ella in 2008. When Marcey's children started having children, her joy was so intense that she had difficultly expressing her depth of feeling. She loved spending as much time as she could doing projects with her five grandchildren. From coloring to cookies she didn't care what it was as long as they were having fun and she got to see those smiles.
As fibromyaglia, rheumatoid arthritis and migraines took a toll on Marcey physically, Marcey stayed busy with pottery, photography, her pets, and gardening. She loved sharing her pottery from the simplest salsa bowl to works of art. The fruits (and veggies) of her gardens were spread to friends and family both near and far and was renowned for her green chili. If you were to look at any wall in Marcey's house you could easily see where the lens of her camera was focused, Marcey's activities were rarely about her, but about making someone else feel good. If there was anything that Marcey insisted on having just for her, it would have to be her pets (fish, turtles, dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, newts, frogs, even the occasional bird) she was truly a lover of animals.
The list of survivors for Marcey is tremendous.
