Margaret "Maggie" Mary Frederick went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2021 peacefully surrounded by family. She was 93 years old.
Born to Rudolf and Elsie Friederich in New York City and later joined by younger brother Rudy. She grew up in the Bronx where she attended catholic school. Her favorite childhood activity was visiting her secluded reading spot near her home where her love of reading and adventure began.
When not reading, she enjoyed writing and roller skating.
As a young adult, Maggie attended Fashion School at Franklin School of Professional Arts, Costume Design in New York City where she nurtured a love of fashion. Throughout her life, she used her passion and skills as a seamstress to design and make much of her own clothes, wedding dresses, and clothes for children and grandchildren. On many occasions, the entire family showed up to holidays and events fashionably dressed alike in her hand-created and sewn outfits.
As a young career woman, Maggie worked in the Empire State Building in New York City. After relocating her family to Englewood, Colorado in 1953, she worked for The Denver Dry Goods as a fashion buyer, which was her favorite job incorporating her passion. Her longest years, however, were spent with Mountain Bell/US West beginning in the mailroom and working her way up to marketing and sales from where she retired.
She loved the arts—theater, dance, music, and visual arts, but was most known for all the art she created with her own hands. Maggie was featured in the Denver Post in 1958 for her elaborate and voluminous Christmas cookies! Family, friends and neighbors always looked forward to receiving their portion of her latest and classic creations. Only in recent years, did she scale back her holiday baking but the beloved tradition continues through her children and grandchildren.
Maggie was sought out to plan and host many elaborate events and parties because of her creative skill, and love of entertaining, but was remembered most fondly for holidays, pool parties, costumes, a simple princess or cowboy party for her children, and soda shops and cakes for her grandchildren.
An adventure seeker from an early age, Maggie spent much of her adult life traveling. She traveled to over 120 countries and had many stories to tell and images to recreate for her family and friends from her experiences. For her 80th birthday party, the family hosted an "Around the World in 80 Years" theme party to honor and recollect all her many adventures. In order to travel, she had incredible financial management--and budgeting via her self-created and elaborate "envelope system."
Maggie's zeal for life, exploration, and her family were present until her last day. She adored her family, reveled in exploring her world near and far, and took joy in the world she could create with her hands.
Maggie is preceded in death by her parents Rudy and Elsie Friederich and younger brother Rudy.
She is survived by her five children: Edward (Terri) Luiszer of Cottonwood, Arizona, Fredrick (Julya) Luiszer of Kona, Hawaii, Robert (Peggy who preceded her in death) Luiszer of Littleton, Colorado, Maripat (Daniel) Gallas of Aurora, Colorado, Margaret (Rick) Leitner of Lafayette, Colorado, eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
