Margaret 'Peggy' Martinez
March 15, 1929 - March 18, 2024
Birth name: Margarita Eufemia Manzanares was born to Amado Pedro and Fedelina Laura Manzanares in Monte Vista, Colorado.
Peggy passed away peacefully in her home, three days after celebrating her 95th birthday. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother/great grandmother/great-great grandmother, a wonderful sister, aunt, cousin, and a friend to all. She is survived by her six children, Randy Mansanarez (Diane), Sonja Duran (Anthony), Reuben Martinez, Jr. (Jackie), Steve Martinez (Kimberly), Isaac Martinez (Christin), Karolyn Jones; she has 22 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren (with one on the way), 3 great-great grandchildren.
Her passing came eight short months after the death of her loving husband Reuben, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. They were married on August 25, 1956.
Peggy's energetic nature, filled her early years training and participating in many activities including boxing, semi-professional wrestling and performance skate dancing. Growing up in a musical family, she developed a passion for music: singing, playing guitar and piano, and composing many of her own songs. She also enjoyed puzzles and cheering on the Broncos and the Rockies.
After marriage, Peggy and Reuben began attending church regularly. Finding comfort and peace in her Savior, she committed herself fully, pouring her God-given energy into working tirelessly wherever there was a need. Her evenings were filled with prayer and reading her Bible. With coffee and cookies before her, early mornings were filled with prayer for neighbors, the children at the school across the street, those who passed in front of her window, and every member of her family. If you had the opportunity to visit with her, it didn't matter who you were, she would let you know that you had been prayed for that morning.
