Elma Martinez, 83 of Denver, wife of late Filibert Martinez. Elma passed peacefully Sunday surrounded by her children and family. She was born June 5, 1937 to Max and Mary Perea in Antonito, Colorado where she grew up until she met and married her late husband Filibert.
Elma married Filibert, who was in the Air Force, in 1955 and together they traveled to many states and overseas. In their married life they raised five children together. When Filibert retired from the Air Force, he and Elma moved back to Colorado where their families lived.
They bought a home and moved to Northglenn, Colorado where they continued to raise their children and made many friends.
Elma is survived by her four children, Celina Hoffman, Philip (Linda) Martinez, Paula (Win) Cady, Karen (Terry) Valdez. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, her sister Lucille Perea, brother LeeRoy Perea and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband Filibert Martinez, daughter Linda Parnell, parents Max and Mary Perea and sister Joann Martinez.
