Marjorie ("Margie") Eileen Grout, 95, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023. She was born on June 8, 1928 to Robert E. and Lillian M. Burns in Denver, CO. She graduated from West High School in Denver in 1946.
Duane James Grout was her high school sweetheart, whom she married on September 27, 1947. They had 4 kids in their marriage; Doug, Diane, Denise and Tammy. Her occupational career began with the Denver Dry Goods Company in their bookkeeping department from 1961 until 1967. She then started work at Stearns Rogers off of Colorado Blvd. and Alameda in Denver in 1968. They moved to Riverside, California in 1978 and she began work for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. as a sales representative until 1993. After moving to Palm Springs, CA for several years, they returned to Denver, CO. She began working part-time with her daughter, Tammy Boles, in a CPA office assisting with tax returns and client's business accounts. In 1998, she also began working part-time with Weight Watchers for a period of 15 years. She retired from working in 2013 due to health-related issues.
She thoroughly enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, knitting and other creative endeavors. She also enjoyed bowling, dancing to jitterbug music, and fishing with her husband as it was his passion for leisure time. They created many family memories on numerous fishing trips. She also had a love of gardening and especially roses. Her little-known talent was that she also had a wonderful soprano voice. She and Duane were active in the Masons and Eastern Star where Margie held various promotional positions within the Masonic Lodge organization.
Family was everything to Marge. She always cherished her visits with her children and grand-children on every opportunity. As her family expanded to include great-grand-children, they became an ever-present focus of her time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother-in-law, her sister-in-law Barbara Klotz, her loving husband of 53 years, her half-brother Virgil McClure, her son-in-law Larry Boles, and her son-in-law Mark Koehn.
