On Monday, October 4th, 2021, Mark Otto Albers passed away at the age 75 from non-COVID related complications from pneumonia.
Mark (affectionately called Opa by his family) was born on August 14th, 1946 in Columbus, Nebraska to Otto and Stella Albers. He enjoyed growing up on their Nebraska farm where he fed the chickens, gathered eggs, and milked cows each day. When he was two, they rushed him to Children's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska when he came down with polio, which the Lord later healed him of as a teen. After his parents both passed away, he moved to Greeley, Colorado with his sister, Bernice, and brother-in-law, Gus, where he met and married Judith Ann Michelson on February 24th, 1968. Together they raised the two children God blessed them with, Larry and Lorrie, and enjoyed 53 wonderful years of marriage. He worked as a cartographer in the Denver area for over forty years and then, after retirement, he worked five more years as a currier for Cardinal Health.
His spiritual journey began at a very young age…he recalled his first and favorite Bible story being David and Goliath. His favorite verse was Philippians 4:13,"I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength." At the age of twelve, he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized by Reverend Walker at Shell Creek Baptist Church. Doing his best to follow God's will is what made him the happiest in life and his heart's desire was to see his grandchildren love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Mark enjoyed singing in the church choir as well as in men's quartet. He served as a deacon for many years in the churches where he and Judy were members. He loved the great outdoors where he camped, hunted, fished, and even climbed a few fourteen-ers, He also enjoyed playing board games with his grandchildren. As everyone knows, he was an avid Broncos fan.
He is survived by his sisters, Bernice Morhman and Lorena Miller; wife Judy; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Jamie, daughter and son-in law Lorrie and Scott Burdick; grandchildren Alexis, Sophia, and Katelyn Albers; Michael, Matthew, Mark, Micah, Malachi, Matthias, and Melissa Burdick.
