Mark Kenneth Oeser, of Arvada, has passed away from cancer.
He enlisted in the Navy at seventeen and served in the Korean War. His sea duty tours were aboard Destroyers and he retired as a MMCS from the Navy after 24 years. After his release from active duty he reestablished his interests in art and became well known for his contemporary and experimental use of mixed media and metal sculpture and relief. In 1979 he established Eclectic Art Contemporary Art Experiments and Alternative Art Gallery in Westminster, closing the gallery in 1998. He continuously worked for peace and environmental issues and was a contributing member of the Colorado Citizens for Peace. Oeser was also an animal rights and welfare advocate. He was also known for his on going support and contributions to the alternative co-op galleries in the Denver Metro area. His works have been on exhibit through out the Denver Metro area, including the Arvada Center, Foothills Art Center and Art on the Corner in Grand Junction, CO. He has been an active participant in the Arvada Art Studio Tour for 7 years.
He is survived by a son, Mark Keith Oeser and two grandsons, Zachary and Hayden Oeser of Elizabeth, Colorado.
Memorial Service, Friday, August 28th, 2009 at 10:30AM at the Newcomer Funeral Home - West Metro Chapel. Graveside following at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area "C" at 12:15PM, with Military Honors by the United States Navy.
