On March 11th, 2021, Marna Karmi, known to many as Nana, went to be with the Lord. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.
Marna was known for her cheerful, kind, and loving personality that brought happiness to anyone that met her. She was always a joy to be around and made everyone laugh effortlessly. It was difficult to stay angry when in her presence.
Marna's life was not the easiest. She learned at a young age what it meant to hurt and the cruelty that humans can inflict on one another, but she never let the darkness taint or change her. At the age of ten, she was separated from her immediate family and went decades before seeing them again. In the years she was away, she suffered at the hands of those who were supposed to love her. Through it all, she showed her abusers love and remembered that while all others forsake her, the Lord would take care of her. Because of her faith and belief, she would one day live a life free of pain, sorrow, and tears that she overcame the obstacles that life threw at her. Her love for the Lord allowed her to push through her circumstances and carry on in love and servitude.
Up until the moment she passed, Marna was full of spunk, sass, and life, teasing and joking with those around her. Her personality really shined through when she'd pull out her deck of cards, insisting we play a game that she seldom lost at. On the extremely rare occasion that she did lose, Marna was quick to reassure everyone that she'd let us win out of the kindness of her heart. When she did win, she would sit with an air of triumph, often sticking her tongue out at us with a shrug followed by laughter. It was her genuine, joyful and playful nature that drew people to her.
Though early on in life she suffered at the hands of others, Marna spent the last few decades of her life surrounded by love, family, and friendship. She leaves behind two sons, James and Charles, and a daughter, Jackleen, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Marna's love for life did not end with her passing. She is reunited with her husband, Raman, and is living eternity with the ultimate love of her life, her heavenly Father.
