Mary Anne Wescoat
Mary Anne Wescoat passed away on September 11, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver. She was 82. Born on May 8, 1925 in Tonica, IL, she was the second and youngest child of Merton Ira and Ruth T Signer. In 1929 after brief stay in Clearinghouse, CA her family moved to Golden, CO where her father joined the faculty of the Colorado school of mines.
She graduated from Golden High School in 1943 and attended the University of Colorado. In 1945 she married Joel C. Bradshaw III of Stratton, CO and together they had two children: Joel C Bradshaw IV and James S. Bradshaw. In 1948, the family moved to Stratton, CO where they purchased the B&B Drug which they owned and operated until 1967. While living in Stratton Mary Anne was active in many clubs and civic affairs. She led a successful bond campaign to build a new high school and a leader in the PTA and High School band parents. Mr. Bradshaw died following the sale of the drugstore in 1967.
In 1968 Mary Anne moved to Denver and worked as administrative assistant at several technical schools and colleges, including the Academy of Computer Technology, Western Technical College, and Barnes Business College. In 1972 she joined the staff of Florence Crittenton Services as an administrative assistant worked there until she retired in 1991.
A later marriage to Harold E Wescoat ended in divorce.
She is survived by her sons, Joel Bradshaw of Falls Church VA, Jim Bradshaw of Denver CO, her grandchildren Kimberly of Annapolis MD and James of Castle Rock, her great granddaughter Bridget and five nieces and nephews.
She was a strong woman, always willing to help support, teach and mentor people she came in contact with. She lived a full life characterized by active community engagement, an open heart and generous sprit.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Family Funeral Home - West Chapel, 901 S. Sheridan Blvd., Lakewood, CO. Inurnment to follow at Golden Cemetery in Golden, Colorado.
