Our beloved Mary Jo returned to our Heavenly Father February 11th, 2020. Her ball of fire attitude gave her the courage and strength to fight a ruthless 11 month battle with lung disease. Our precious Mary Jo was born on November 26th, 1967 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Josefina Boyer from Puerto Rico, and John Boyer from New York. Mary Jo was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1985. Mary Jo was a Certified Nurse Assistant and loved working at the University of Colorado Hospital where she worked for over 20 years. She enriched the lives of her coworkers and patients. She loved her work but importantly the people she worked with. Mary Jo was a strong and independent single mother to her two children an always worked to give them the best life she could. She loved them very much. Mary Jo's friends are boundless and the list will be too long to mention them all. We express our gratitude to all of Mary Jo's friends and coworkers that were like family to her especially her friends Mary Kunic, and Juana Loya. They faithfully loved and cared for Mary Jo as only sisters can, they were soul sisters. She also loved her family with all her heart. Mary Jo is survived by her mother Josefina currently living in Salt Lake City, UT, her two children Raymond Boyer and Katrina Sass from Aurora, CO, her two brothers John and Michael Boyer from Salt Lake City, UT, her sister Marangelie Boyer-Diaz and brother-in-law Edelso Diaz from Kearns, UT, her sister-in-law Sandra Molina-Boyer from Salt Lake City, UT, and 10 nieces and nephews. Mary Jo was a loving and devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, sister-in-law, cousin and friend. She enjoyed reading books especially about the English royalty and history. Mary Jo had a courageous spirit. She loved to laugh and be with people she loved. She always remembered everyone's birthdays. She was also very kind and charitable even when she didn't have much to give. Her love for our Savior Jesus Christ was unwavering. Mary Jo's most favorite thing in the world was to have her entire family all together. Family was everything to her. She had such a gentle, kind and nurturing soul. It has been a painful trial that she fought but still, through it all, she remained loving and caring. We know it was joyful celebration as she returned home into the arms of our loving Heavenly Father and also into the arms of her earthly father that she loves dearly. She was also received by by her grandparents and many other family members.
