Mary Elizabeth Conklin (Gareis), 89, of Denver, was born on October 30, 1930 in Westmoreland, Kansas to John Ernest Gareis and Hilda Marie Gareis (Umscheid) and passed away on December 5, 2019. She was married to Kenneth Francis Conklin on April 18, 1953, for 63 years. After earning her high school education in Westmoreland, Kansas, she worked as a school bus driver for Jefferson County school district, retiring in 1986-87 and enjoyed volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. Along with her career and volunteering, family was very important to Mary. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her 5 children, Keith (Anne) Conklin, Ronald Conklin, Sherri (Len) Hall, Michelle Ellington, and Kim Conklin;15 grandchildren, Mary (Jess) Conklin, Kendall Conklin, Ashley (Sean) Hackett, Breane (Zach) Brown, Megan Senour, Sarah Conklin, Craig Conklin, DaNelle Ellington (Phil), Jamison Ellington, Ian (Kristine) Hall, Benjamin (Jamie) Hall, David (Kayla) Hall, Jacob Hall, Joseph Hall, and Hyrum Hall; Four great grandchildren, Tanner Brown, Lee Hall, Raegan Hall, and Liam Hall; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary is preceded in death by her father, John Gareis, mother, Hilda Gareis (Umscheid), husband, Kenneth Conklin, son, Roger Conklin, and brothers, Francis Gareis, George Gareis, Delbert Gareis, and Johnny Gareis.
