Mary Ellen DiNucci (nee Mary Ellen Walsh), who was born on July 4, 1922, departed this life on May 6, 2010, surrounded by her family. The youngest daughter of Richard Patrick Walsh and Mary Ellen Walsh (nee McKenna), Mary was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and later lived in Alexandria, Virginia (where she raised her family) and later in Lakewood, Colorado, where she retired with her husband, John J. DiNucci.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John J. DiNucci (of Lakewood) and her four children, their spouses and her seven grandchildren: daughter, Ellen DiNucci, of Belmont, California, and son-in-law, Mark Smith; John A. DiNucci, of Falls Church, Virginia, and daughter-in-law, JiEon Yoon, and their children, Jennifer, John and Anna; Richard DiNucci, of Timonium, Maryland, and his children, Anjelica and Nicholas; and Paul DiNucci, of Nashua, New Hampshire, and his children, Kayla and Christian.
She is and will be greatly missed because of her deep and abiding love for her husband and family (including several generations of cousins, nieces and nephews) and her deep religious faith, as well as for the perspective and sense of humor she exhibited, in good times and bad, as the daughter of Irish immigrants and a self-professed graduate of the Great Depression's "School of Hard Knocks."
A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Lakewood, Colorado on Saturday June 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
