Mary Margaret Meyer, a spirited soul born on August 8, 1932, in Denver, Colorado, left this world on January 19, 2025, in Lakewood, Colorado. Known for her fiery personality and unyielding determination, Mary exemplified independence and self-sufficiency throughout her life.
Raised in the heart of Denver, but spent a lot of time on a farm in Bonne Terre, Missouri, where she developed a deep affection for animals, especially cows, whom she would lovingly name. This connection to her rural roots never faded, shaping her into the hardworking and diligent individual she became. Mary was fiercely proud of her lineage and cherished the memories of her upbringing, often reminiscing about riding tractors alongside her beloved husband, John. Their partnership was marked by shared laughter and a love for life that resonated in everything they did together.
Mary's career with the city and county of Denver was not just a job; it was a testament to her resilience and dedication to serving her community. In addition to her professional accomplishments, she passionately pursued hobbies such as tennis, bowling, and dancing, bringing joy and energy to those fortunate enough to witness her spirited presence. Her unwavering support for the Denver Broncos was another delightful facet of her colorful personality, as she reveled in the excitement of each game.
As a devoted mother, Mary’s proudest accomplishment was her children. It was of the upmost importance to her that her children attend Catholic School. She is survived by her son Jonathan, daughter Cheryl, stepson Michael, stepdaughters Diane and Bonnie, and two cherished grandchildren who have inherited her zest for life. Her legacy will live on through them, as they carry forward the values of hard work, creativity, and independence she instilled in them.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Balbina Junger, and her devoted husband John Meyer, who she missed profoundly. Mary’s life was one marked by passion, hard work, and love—a narrative woven with the threads of cherished memories and the indelible impact she made on those who knew her. A true city girl at heart, Mary Margaret Meyer leaves behind a world that is a little less bright without her fiery spirit.
