Mary Alvi Monzon
Mary Alvi Monzon, 59, passed away July 24, 2022, from a brain aneurysm. Mary was predeceased by her father Alfonzo and brother JoJo. She is survived by her mother Violetta, partner Hamid, niece Rachel, nephew Justin and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mary had a passion to live life to its fullest. She brought joy, love, and laughter to everyone she encountered. She never missed a moment to be with her friends, enjoy a great meal, sing along at a concert, or participate in an event.
She loved to volunteer to help those less fortunate than herself or to promote her Asian heritage. Her volunteerism included being a longtime board member of the Asian Chamber of Commerce, board member for Denver Center for International Studies, and volunteer for over 20 years at the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival; along with participating in other organizations.
Mary always thought of others before herself. She would often sacrifice her desires to make someone else happy. She rarely criticized and always found the good in others.
An open house in "Celebration of Mary's Life" will be held Sunday, August 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Filipino American Community of Colorado Cultural Center, 1900 Harlan St., Edgewater, CO.
Donations are welcome. Proceeds will be used to help her family with costs of the burial/memorial and Mary's favorite charities.
