Mary I. Peschong

Mary I. Peschong, age 80, passed away peacefully in her home June 26, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 6, 1939 on a small farm near Epiphany, South Dakota to Catherine and August Dold Sr. Mary attended St. Agatha's in Howard. After graduation she relocated to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she worked at Bell telephone company. Mary and Alan fell in love while setting up a Christmas tree on a double date. From then on they dated until Alan graduated college. In the summer of 1960 they married in the church of Epiphany, and settled down in the town of Huron, South Dakota. Where, with her love for music she played the organ for the church and sang in the choir. Together Mary and Alan had 5 children; Patrick Alan, Gregory John, Joan Marie, Linda Jean and Susan Lynn. After a job promotion the family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1978. Mary continued her participation in the choir at the Christ on the Mountain Church, where she also was very active in her other hobbies of playing bridge, sewing, gardening, crafting, socializing and participating with the Women's group. During that time she also worked at Devinny Elementary, enjoyed selling Avon and later started a second career at MMS as a Corporate Assistant where she eventually retired with distinction. Mary is survived by 4 grandchildren including Stephanie Ann, Emma Kathleen, Morgan Lynn, and Jordan Elizabeth. She continued her musical activities throughout the years and enjoyed various crafting projects including making over 500 blankets for children. Her great grandson Caiden Matthew brightened her life 4 years ago, and became dear to her heart.

Preceded in death by her parents and her sister Angelita.

Thank you mom for giving us a wonderful life, for blessing us all with your guidance, and always providing your love and support. We will always miss you.

Burial with the family will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the music department at Christ on the Mountain Catholic Church in support of Mary's love for music.
