Mary Lolita Prouse, a beacon of love and laughter, graced this world with her presence from August 14, 1940, until her peaceful passing on December 29, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family in Lakewood, Colorado. Born in the charming town of Arvada, she fostered a life enriched by the joys of family and the warmth of connection.
Throughout her fulfilling years, Mary dedicated a significant chapter of her life to her career at Northern Automotive and then Carquest Auto Parts, demonstrating an admirable resilience as she transitioned from the role of a devoted homemaker to a hardworking professional. This remarkable ability to embrace change and continuously grow was but one facet of her vibrant personality. She was known for her faith, generous spirit, witty humor, and a delightful sprinkle of sarcasm, each quality leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.
Mary’s zest for life was beautifully reflected in her gatherings, where her home became the backdrop for cherished family traditions. Each Christmas and Thanksgiving, her doors warmly welcomed her family, filling the air with laughter and love. Summer barbecues in her back yard were a canvas for joy, memories painted with the joyous union of her grandchildren celebrating their love. Her nurturing essence was complemented by her nightly ritual of rolling her hair late into the evening, a little indulgence that showcased her flair and commitment to presenting her best self.
An avid reader and enthusiastic gardener, Mary found solace in the pages of her books and delight in nurturing her green sanctuary. The simplicity of these pursuits mirrored the beauty of her heart – always giving and ever so generous, characteristics that seamlessly intertwined in the fabric of her daily life.
Her legacy of love will forever resonate through her family: her beloved daughters, Barbara and Betty; her cherished sons, Harold and Randy; and her adored grandchildren, Crystal, Cindy, Rodney, and Ryan. Furthermore, the love she bestowed upon her great-grandchildren, including Hunter, Hannah, Brooke, Isabelle, Allie, Ekkoe, Reagan, Skye, and Haley, will continue to embody her spirit, rippling through generations yet to come.
Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, James L. Prouse, a partnership defined by shared dreams and mutual support. Their bond, though now etched in memory, will guide and inspire their family in the days ahead.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for January 9, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Metro in Denver, beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by a burial ceremony at Crown Hill Cemetery. This will be a time not only to mourn the loss of Mary but to celebrate the myriad ways her vibrant spirit enriched our lives and to reflect on the profound impact she has left in the hearts of all who had the privilege to walk alongside her.
Mary Lolita Prouse may have departed from our sight, but she shall forever remain a radiant light in our memories, a spicy soul with a remarkable sense of humor, and an embodiment of unconditional love.
