Mary Sakach, (nee Hegedus), age 93, born in Daisytown, Pennsylvania on January 4, 1917, passed away in Aurora, Colorado on June 18, 2010. She was a long-time resident of Lorain prior to moving to Denver to be with her daughter.
Mary was a parishioner of the former St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain; she was also a member of the St. Ann Society as well as the Hungarian Reformed Sick Benefit Society.
In her free time she enjoyed cooking, sewing, and dancing. Additional interests included going to movies and playing card and dice games.
She is survived by her children Jerry, Marlene, Dennis, and Alan, along with thirteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Sakach was preceded in death by her husband Steve, by brothers Alex, John, and Bill, and by sisters Helen and Julie.
Visitation will be Sunday June 27th from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel; a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Robert Glepko, Pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
