Ms. Mary Virginia "Ginger" Taylor (née Colligan) passed away in her home on December 29, 2017 in Arvada, Colorado at the age of 79.
Ginger is survived by her children, John Steven (Kris) Taylor, Thornton, CO and Anne Taylor, Arvada, CO and her grandchildren, Jessica Taylor, Becca Taylor, and Brooke Taylor. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph P. Colligan, her mother, Mary Colligan, her brother Patrick Colligan, her son, Patrick Taylor, and her husband, Dr. Jerry Taylor.
Ginger was born on January 20, 1938 in Henderson, TX to Joseph and Mary Colligan. She graduated from University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1960 with a degree in Elementary Education. She married Dr. Jerry W. Taylor in 1961. After moving to Metairie, LA, Ginger began working as a first grade teacher. Over 8 years, the couple welcomed 3 children into their home. Her children remember her as a fun-loving and compassionate mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Ginger was an accomplished teacher and excelled at teaching kids to read. She was an incredibly generous individual who loved her family, entertaining, and football.
A funeral is scheduled for January 20, 2018 at 2:00 at Applewood Valley United Methodist Church at 2035 Ellis St., Golden, CO, with a reception to follow at the church. Rev. Michele Kaminsky will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ginger's life.
