Mary Lou (Green) Van entered the gates of heaven on January 21st at 10:05pm. Mary Lou was born and raised in Boardman, Ohio and graduated from Boardman High School. She worked at Sears Roebuck as an administrative clerk for almost 20 years and was a member of Old North Church in Canfield, Ohio, for most of her adult life. She sang with a trio consisting of Helen (Ted) Simkins, and Nancy (Harry) Pittman for over 20 years. Wynn Mason was also part of the original trio.
In 1979, she married Walter Van of New Castle, PA and was married for almost 30 years when Walter passed at the age of 100.
Mary Lou was gifted with a beautiful voice which she always used to glorify God. She performed with her husband, Walter Van, at various venues over a span of 28 years. She was an active member at First Baptist Church in New Castle, PA, and then at First Baptist Church in Venice, FL.
She was an animal lover and adored her grand-dogs as much as her family members! They are Tanya, Abey, Bentley, Brutus, Bella, Fozzy and Allie.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, James Green and Anna (Powell) Green, her brothers - Bill Green, Bob Green and Bud Green, baby brother Jimmy Green, baby sister Ruthie Green, her niece Michelle Fryman, and her husband, Walter Van.
Mary Lou leaves behind her son – Bud Simkins, her daughter - Claudia Meredith, her sister - Janet (Gary) Fryman, her nieces – Erin Fryman, Tracy (Dan) Montgomery, Trina (Vince) Ward, Ruth Ann Moyer, Robin (Jim) Ruschman, Carol Augustine, Missy Green, her nephews - Jeff Green, Dan Green, Kevin Green, Bobby Green and Jim Green, her grandchildren - Chad Simkins, Wendy (Craig) Frazier, Jeramy (Kami) Meredith and Jeff (Chandler) Meredith, and her great grandchildren Mikala Simkins Perez, Brayden Frazier, Piper Meredith, Gavin Meredith and Gabe Meredith.
She also leaves behind her loving step daughters: Marjorie Beavon and children Joyce, Jan and David, and Barbara Trumble and her children Jim and Kathy, and all their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
