Mary Q Velasco
Born Jan 16, 1933 in El Cerrito, New Mexico. Moved to Oakland California where she went to school. She met and married her husband Albert of 71 years. Mary moved to Denver and was joined by her husband after his honorable discharge from the Navy, where together they lived and worked and raised a family.
Survived by her daughter Yvonne, grandson Anthony, great granddaughter Liliana, granddaughter Valerie, (Derek) great granddaughter Liberty and great grandson Stephen. Her son Mike preceded her in death in 2007 as well as other beloved family members.
Mary worked as a homemaker, as a nurse assistant for St Anthony Hospital in Denver, ran a daycare in her home and later received an office assistant certification found out she would rather help people and pursued a home health care career for many years before retirement.
Mary was an avid reader and continued her education by teaching herself new hobbies. Mary loved researching the family genealogy. She enjoyed crafting, cooking and caring for her garden and home, sewing making her own patterns and teaching others to sew. Crocheting became a passion in later years and she created hundreds of slippers to donate and to give to family and friends.
Mary was a people person and loved to visit and hear from her family. She and her husband Albert always strive to help the family in any way that they could.
