Beautiful and devoted mother and wife, beloved grandma, GiGi, daughter and sister passed away on Father's Day, June 20, 2021.
Maxine was the youngest child born to Gus and Opal (Johnson) Humann, on June 1, 1935 by a midwife at their home on West A Street in Lincoln NE.
Moving to the farm at the age of three for her childhood with her older brother, Leonard and her beloved sister, Gladys, they had many adventures. For her early school years, Maxine attended a country, one-room school house until 8th grade with her sister.
The family moved back to Lincoln living on A Street then to South Street where the sisters attended Teachers College High School, graduating in 1952.

Maxine told many stories of her fond memories growing up, her love of her parents and her family. After high school, Maxine was a clerk at the Lincoln County courthouse.
On May 8, 1954, Maxine married her high school sweetheart, Harold Ruliffson in Lincoln NE.
In 1957 they had their first child, Kathy.
In 1959 the family moved to Denver, CO and settled in a small six-plex on Federal and 26th St. That year Maxine began her career as a secretary.

In 1962 they moved to Northglenn, CO, purchasing their first home. She loved owning a home, enjoying yard work and making lifelong friends in the neighborhood. Hosting many family gatherings that included music nights of her favorite country songs, playing her accordion with her sister, Gladys, and her sister-in-law, Margaret, while her brother, Leonard, sang Country oldies and played the guitar.

With two pregnancy losses brought the adoption of wonderful a baby boy. Daniel came to live with the family when he was eight months old in 1967. He was a precious gift to our family, especially after losing a full-term baby girl. Maxine stayed home for a few years and returned to work as an executive secretary at Continental National Bank and Ruberoid Inc, after Kathy and Dan were both in school. She had a close and loving relationship with her kids.

The family moved to Southeast Denver in 1971, there she remained a homemaker, hosting events at their home for friends and colleagues. Then working for the Hamilton Group for a few years.

In 1982 she relocated to Kansas City, MO. Maxine began a long career with the Kansas City Police Department as a civilian employee in the purchasing dept.
1988 she married Admiral Dewey Villines, he passed away in 1990.
She enjoyed her 16 year career with the KCPD retiring in 1998 and began caring for her elderly mother until she passed away in 2001. Mom lived in Kansas City for 23 years.
2005 brought her back to Colorado to be with her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed them very much and living in CO again.
In 2007 Maxine started working for a family friend who owned a law updating company,
working in law offices in Denver and Boulder until 2012.
Maxine was always musically talented playing the accordion, violin and guitar. She was a gifted piano player-playing by "ear" until her 40's when a neighbor gifted her a two tiered organ and at that time she took lessons to read music.
Maxine had a strong Faith in God. She enjoyed playing her favorite hymns and Christmas Carols on the piano for her grandchildren and great grandchildren at her daughter's home. "The Old Rugged Cross", was a favorite. In 2015 at the age of 80 she was successful in beating lung cancer, though this did not contribute to her passing.

Our mother was a great cook and baker as well as a talented seamstress in her younger years, she sewed for herself and her children.
She was extremely gifted with a crochet hook always creating beautiful doilies, table-runners and many items for the home. A hobby she learned from her mother. When her daughter turned 60 she made over 150 crocheted pieces for friends and family and mailed them to each person along with a personal note.
Maxine's love, motherly instincts, talents and her giving heart will be her legacy along with her devotion to her family.
We are truly thankful for her giving heart, her kindness, and the love she showed each of us.
We miss her very much and will always remember her with much love and great admiration.
