Melissa Ann Surlett was born in Aurora, CO on August 30, 1969 to her mother Theresa Darlene Brown and her father the late Robert Eugine Surlett. She was raised by her other dad Thomas Brown. She is survived by her sisters Leah Brown-Garcia (Albert), Cheryl Brown, her nephew Seth Garcia (Drena), her niece Shelbie Garcia, and her great nephew Hercules. She is preceded in death by her grandma Norine Melissa Ford and her dog Zippy.
Melissa worked for most of her life in Denver, CO for mailing companies in warehouses working different sorting machines. In 2005 she moved to Colorado Springs and a few years later started working at a School District Transportation Department as a Paraprofessional with special needs children which she absolutely loved with a passion.
She loved spending time with her family, her significant other Edward Fleming and the many great friends she made throughout the years. She found her pride and joy "Zippy" her dog, who was a sweet soul that was always by her side for 12 years. Missy was known for her outgoing personality and her laugh, which could be heard for what seemed to be miles. Missy loved playing games, joking around, everything Betty Boop, watching her tv shows, and of course being around dogs, especially her beloved dog Zippy.
