Melvin L. Gurule, a cherished husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on December 12, 2024, in Westminster, Colorado. Born on May 5, 1939, in, Colorado, Melvin was a steadfast figure in his community, known for his unwavering dedication to his career and family.
Melvin began his professional journey as a letter carrier, demonstrating an exceptional work ethic that propelled him to the position of manager at the postal service. His commitment extended beyond his job; he also served honorably as a Boulder County Deputy Sheriff Reserve, reflecting his character and devotion to public service. He thrived in his roles, drawing joy from every task, and was respected by those who had the privilege to work alongside him.
Education was important to Melvin, and he proudly graduated from Lafayette High School. His love for learning and keen understanding of technology was evident; he had an extraordinary talent for embracing the latest gadgets. Whether he was showing off the newest electronics or sharing his latest interests, Melvin brought a sense of excitement to everything he did.
Those who knew Melvin well appreciated his distinctive personality, characterized by his dry humor and the no-nonsense approach to life. He had a structured way of thinking, believing firmly in the principles of black and white—there was little room for gray areas in his world. His thoroughness and organization were admired by friends and family alike, and he set an example through his steadfast nature.
In his free time, Melvin found joy in various hobbies. He had a passion for shooting and often spent time at gun ranges. A dedicated collector of firearms, Melvin took pleasure in researching and acquiring pieces that highlighted his interests and skills.
Melvin leaves behind his beloved wife, Margo, who was his partner in life, and his daughter Rebecca, who is married to Louie. his two grandsons Marcus and Aaron and one great-grandson Apollo. As well has his stepchildren, Jamie and Michael, who will remember him fondly. The memory of Melvin will live on in their hearts, carrying forward his legacy of love, laughter, and dedication.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary, as well as his son Mel Gurule and daughter Rebecca Isabel. They will welcome him with open arms, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
