Melvin Martinez

Melvin Martinez was born on July 15, in 1927 to Briggado and Rosie Martinez in Florence, Colorado. Melvin was the oldest of 18 children born in to that union. He is preceded in death by his dad and mom Briggido and Rosie also brother Felix, Freddie, sister Rose Marie Diaz, Julia Findley, son Anthony Martinez and daughter Lorraine Gonzales.

Melvin was united in marriage in Denver, Colorado on March 6, 1969 to Priscilla Romero. They shared 49 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Priscilla Martinez, son Buddy Martinez, (Tammy), Gilbert Martinez, ( Lillian) and daughter Melvajane Sainz ( Paul), Joe Romero, Gilbert Romero (Ramona) and Rosalee Sandoval (Phil).

Brothers Nace Martinez (Barbara), Tommy Martinez, Daniel Martinez, Frank Martinez, David Martinez (Lynn), Sister Virginia Sykes, Viola Hightower, Bonnie Burnsed, Rosemary Biscoff, Eleanor Haikey, Juanita Massey and Patricia Sheets, (Robert). Melvin has twenty eight grandchildren, thirty eight great-grand children and 6 great-great grand children numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Melvin is a United States Army in World War II Veteran. His dedication to his country instilled pride and dignity that he showed in all his endeavors. He worked at the Pueblo Steel Mill, Sears Company as an upholsterer and did construction of building homes throughout his life. Melvin loved his job as an upholsterer maker, he belonged to the Upholsters Union that was started in 1982.

Melvin served his country with pride and dignity that lasted his life time.

He never met a stranger even when he went gambling at Black Hawk. Making memories that will last our life time with friends and family. He enjoyed inviting family and friends over to his home for a good time with lots of music, dancing, laughter. He loved fishing and setting up his hunting camps and hunting for the big one. Melvin always tried to install morals, values and ethics in everyday life. Melvin was well loved and carried himself with dignity and elegance, always willing to help anyone. Melvin was a master of his craft as an upholster furniture maker it showed in every piece that he made with his own hands the pride, excellence and the love that went into each piece.
