Merle Rockwell

Merle "Rocky" Rockwell passed away on March 7, 2008 in Lakewood, CO at the age of 91.

Rocky was born in Waldron, KS on February 22, 1917 and grew up a farm boy in Kansas. He had three sisters, Vera, Olive, and Lou.

After high school, Rocky enlisted in the US Army Air Corp and served his country for two years in the Aleutian Islands. He was granted an honorable discharge in 1945.

After the service, he started his career with American Optical in Denver, CO. While living in Denver, he met and married the love of his life, Muriel. Rocky and Muriel lived in Denver and raised their three children, Claudia, Jim, and Denise.

Rocky will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Among those are his loving wife, Muriel. He is also survived by Claudia, Jim (Chris) Rockwell, and Denise (Russ) Gill. He is survived by grandchildren, Shelly (Gary) Welker, Deb (Duane) Demel, Ryan Rockwell, Daniel Rockwell, Roberta Gill, and Bonnie Gill, as well as four great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of St. John, 1320 Everett Ct, Lakewood, CO 80215 or Anchor Center, 2550 Roslyn St, Denver, CO 80238 or Charity of Donor's Choice.

The family would like to invite everyone to a gathering at the family home following the memorial service at 3046 S. Joslin Court, Denver, CO 80227 303-985-4662.
