Michael F. Crowe of Aurora, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday October 13th, 2018.
Michael "Mike" was born to the late James and Alma Crowe on March 8, 1939 in Wichita Falls, Texas. After High School, Mike joined the US Army where he worked in intelligence and served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War, eventually returning home wounded with shrapnel to his lung. Mike received many commendations for his service in the Army. Following his Military service, Mike worked for years for various manufacturing plants as a maintenance mechanic. Later Mike attended Metro State College working towards a Journalism Degree.
Mike married Mary Coffey and they had 3 children, Mike Crowe of Louisville, CO, Mark Crowe of Westminster, CO, and Mindy Crowe of Aurora. In 1984 Mike married Genelle Rurup of Aurora and gained 3 step children, Kirsten Lassa, Darin Rurup, and Jason Rurup, all of Aurora.
Mike was an avid writer and photographer. He had many published articles and had many letters to editors published over the years. Mike took beautiful nature photography and has many wildlife and nature photos, specializing in close-ups of various bird species. Most of his photos were taken right around the corner from his home at Cherry Creek Parks and Recreation Preserve.
Mike was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Mike is survived by his wife of 34 years, Genelle Rurup-Crowe, his 4 legged little girl, Minnie, his children and step-children, and 4 grandchildren and 6 step-grandchildren.
