Michael H. Lafferty, 79, of Aurora, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday,
June 27, 2010. Mike graduated from Albright College (Reading, PA) and soon after was inducted into the Army and spent 18 months in San Antonio, Texas, administering and doing research on psychological exams. While there, he completed his MA in literature and minor in drama at Trinity University. He had a passion for theater and upon his return to Pennsylvania, directed numerous plays at Lincoln University and the University of Pennsylvania. Mike moved to Colorado to accept a position at the Colorado School of Mines where he directed the Golden Thespians. Mike also had a love for teaching and as an Associate Professor, taught at Colorado Woman's College in Denver for 21 years. His area of specialty was modern American literature: Fitzgerald, Hemingway, O'Neill, Stevens, and John Updike, a former high school classmate. He became Chairman of the English Department and remained there until the college closed in 1982. Mike started a new career with the State of Colorado in the Central Services Division retiring in September 2000. Mike is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann, his children, Michelle, Terry, Scott and stepchildren Scott, Michelle, and Edward. Funeral Service will be held at Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church on Friday, July 2nd at Noon. Interment to follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:15pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church building fund or The Denver Hospice.
